The Project Director will manage a team responsible for a project with core responsibilities in Data and Analytics, Health Systems Research and Practice Improvement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team in planning and implementation of federal healthcare contracts including patient safety and health services related programs

  • Create long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones, adhering to deadlines and effectively communicating possible project risks/delays to reduce impact to overall value delivery

  • Manage project budget, project team capacity allocation, project evaluation/assessments, and project deliverables

  • Assist in the definition of project scope and goals as well as identifying and managing potential risks and liabilities of multiple projects

  • Make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress within a project including selectively delegating tasks to employees best positioned to complete them

  • Translate federal program operations into actionable practices, fostering partnerships between major stakeholders, and handling various contract types

  • Provide operational oversight for multiple ongoing tasks, ensuring alignment with national program vision, communicating with executives, the board, and other stakeholders to keep the project goals aligned

  • Lead multiple stakeholder meetings including preparing and delivering presentations

  • Contribute to solution and architecture design for healthcare technology projects, ensuring alignment with program requirements and project efficiency efforts

  • Performing quality control on the project to maintain the standards expected, including adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needed

  • Motivating people involved in the project to complete tasks on time

  • Serve as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy

  • Oversee reporting of Earned Value Management (EVM) to assess project performance and progress

  • Determine new projects, programs, and initiatives for the project.

  • Provide proposal support for new opportunities.

  • Participate and contribute to growth-related activities.

  • Support your team providing resources they need to do their job

  • Oversee and participate in goal setting and yearly performance reviews for your team.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of Project Manager experience including Agile workflow based patterns and practices

  • Professional certifications including PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP) plus at least one Agile Project Management/Scrum Master Certification or be willing to certify in the first (3) months of employment

  • Must demonstrate a detailed understanding of multiple federal & non-federal stakeholders with the proven ability to conduct multiple stakeholder meetings, preparing and delivering presentations on tasks

  • 10+ years Federal government experience Including experience supporting Health & Human Services – specifically the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)

  • A history of directing projects with reasonable cost effectiveness and efficiency, including involving the customer in all essential stages of data analysis & research

  • Proven client management experience including effectively communicating and presenting information to company personnel, external customers, and executive management

  • Proven experience developing partnerships between major stakeholders to enhance opportunities for broad-scale implementation

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with the ability to work independently

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field, Business, Health Services & Sciences or a related field

  • Proficient in MS Office desktop publishing and document formatting tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working remotely using collaboration tools such as, but not limited to MS Teams, JIRA, and Confluence.

  • Experience supporting national program vision and providing operational oversight of multiple ongoing tasks.

  • 10+ years of experience working with large, complex healthcare environments

  • Proven ability to translate healthcare system operations or research findings into practice, specifically with HHS agencies and healthcare leaders.

  • Experience within the research community, providing leadership and direction.

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Technology/Engineering
